Default Strut Bar Install Problem

I was trying to install my strut bar last weekend. I bolted one side to the strut, then jack up the other side, stand on the wheel to get my coilover to move down a little so that I can fit in the other side. However, my coilover is so stiff (at the softest setting) that it doesn't move enough for me to fit in the strut bar. I even had my gf on my back and step on my wheel, but it still doesn't move enough. I'm 180# while my gf is 110#. Anyone face this issue before?

Haha, yeah, how are you not able to move the wheel when the coilover shouldn't even be connected at the top? You should be able to pull it completely out of the holes like that. You are unbolting the shock from the tower prior to bolting on the bar, right?

Worst case scenario if you have a really stiff sway bar, jack up the entire front of the car, then lean on the wheel. It should move a lot more freely than if you only jack one corner. When you jack one corner you are loading the sway bar and it is trying to keep the wheel from going down.

Hahaha, of course I unbolted the strut tower. I jacked up only one side, then stepped on the wheels with my gf on my back. The strut did move down a little, but not enough for me to slide in the strut bar. I will try to jack the whole front this weekend and see how it goes. Thanks for the input!

Nvm thomsbrain is right. It's the sway bar. Didnt realize it had already been answered.

yes jack the front middle, not the sides. if you jack up the front then the chassis will flex the shock towers away from each other and allow you room to put the bar on.
