Default Testpipe, Is it a must to keep OEM heatshield?

Hello Pro's! I just wanted to know if I get a test pipe and don't keep or have my OEM catalytic convertor heatshield installed does it get extremely hot by the passenger floor? Thanks!!

I don't believe so. I haven't noticed any extra heat at least. Granted I don't sit in the passengers seat, but no friends or anyone has mentioned it getting hot.
