Default Is there a huge difference in buying a K&N air filter and buying the intake?

So I just got my s2000 and I want to buy a K&N intake. I was wondering is there a huge difference in buying the filter and removing the airbox vs buying the intake. Also is the filter you get on the intake the same one you buy for the car normally? I want to do it mostly for sound but power is a plus.

With the K&N filter for the S2000 you don't remove the air box. The K&N cone filter fits inside the stock airbox. I'm personally a huge fan of stock intakes, based on looks alone. The few HP you gain isn't all that noticable imo. We're talking 5hp. Whichever route you go, I'd be happy to help you source your parts.

No it's not the same thing. Yes the K&N Filter is [slightly] better. Yes taking off your airbox takes heatsoak to new levels.

Go for the full FIPK system.

I have the drop in k&n and a brand new oem filter too. They both feel exactly the same. My new oem filter had a whistle though like my old aem intake on my civic haha.

If you're not going to tune via flashpro ems kpro etc just leave it stock or do the drop in. Don't expect much other than the sound

Where is the MAF sensor on this car? I thought it didn't have one and they used a MAP sensor. . .

I have had stock, AEM V1, and now K&N FIPK intake.

Stock worked fine, I didn't like the installation or filter placement of the AEM V1.

In my opinion, the sound you get from the FIPK is worth the price alone, regardless of HP gains.
