Default To those with carbon trunks

I bought my S used and it has a carbon fiber trunk on it.

The previous owner put the trunk lid on and took out the left trunk spring. I guess that it was too much spring tension which probably caused the trunk to fly open.

Well, since only the right side had a spring, the trunk didn't sit even and a little bit of water came in.

I recently took out the trunk spring that was left.

Now the trunk sits prefectly even with no leakage, but it doesn't stay up. I knew i would have to hold it, but i just realized how hard this would make my audio install.

Are there any low tension (really low) trunk springs that fit in our car?

I don't care if i have to pull the trunk up, i just want it to stay up once i pull it up all the way. mine almost stays as it is, but it cant go back far enough to balance.

Please help

maybe get one of those tiny trunk props from a jetta....they look like those gas hood props but are only like.....8inches or less long. that would work nicely...plus youd be the only guy with a "trunk prop"

did you try reinstalling the left trunk spring and see if it's still causing you leakage?

i'm gonna be installing mine next week, but will be putting a mugen ss wing on it. anyone know if i still need to take one spring out to stop it from flying up too fast?

i didnt get the other spring with the car when i bought it. i only had the right one

i imagine though, that it is possible that it would leak when both are in. the right side of the trunk sat way higher when the spring was in.

and by leakage, its something most probably wouldnt even see,
the only way i found this was because i pulled out my trunk liner and toolwell kit.
the next day, i found a puddle in the toolwell.

if i had the carpet in, i wouldnt see it, but it would still be a problem because the carpet would get soggy and my stereo would be ruined!!!

if i cant find trunk springs, i really want to do a pneumatic lift.
anyone know where i can get a small door actuator? it would be just like the screen door one's but smaller and thinner.

that would be really nice

^^ good luck with the trunk. i dont know if its just my case. i havent even checked the brand of this thing.

the extra weight from teh wing should help slow it down a little.
i put sound deadening on my lid (which i was gonna do anyways) and it increased the mass a little.

and those gas shocks once you pop the trunk will take care of the rest.

i've heard of people heating the springs to bend them slightly so they aren't so stiff and springy, but i don't know how that would be done???

im not completely sure, but the way it was with one spring and high tension, the trunk looked like crap and didnt sit even.
