Valve Discussion
I am in the process of diagnosing low compression in 2 of my cylinders on my 2005 s2000.
I took the head off, and found that 4 of my exhaust valves were leaking. filled the bottom side of the head (valve side) with fuel, and watched the fuel leak into the ports. This showed me which valves were leaking. the cylinders that had low compression each had one that leaked pretty bad, puddling in the exhaust ports. the other 2 cylinders each had one slow leaking exhaust valve. each cylinder also had one exhaust valve that didnt leak a drop.
it didnt seem like any of the intake valves were leaking.
anywho, i have decided to do a valve job and replace all the valves. an OEM valveset is just shy of $290. These seem to be sodium filled exhaust valves, and stainless intake valves. Can anyone confirm that?
Would there be any benefit to replacing the valves with something like brian crower valves, without replacing the valvesprings? The brian crower valves are also just shy of $290.
