are vented hoods actually very functional?
@siadam It's obviously going to be cooler, the issue I was more addressing was creating more drag and air resistance, and interupting the aerodynamic issue.
Also intake temps. Engine compartment temps will be cooler of course

hot air rises hence the air escapes from a vented hood making it functional.
This thread may have been linked above, but it has some good info about hood vents. Depending on aerodynamics, the placement of the vents is a huge factor in a vent's effectiveness. If the vent is in the wrong spot, it can totally screw things up, and cause air to flow the wrong way.
Is there a wrong way? Do I care if air flows into my engine compartment through the hood, vs. through the radiator, vs. up from the road?
For FI, my assumption is that any airflow is good. For NA, I might wonder more about impacts to aerodynamic drag and lift, but they're probably minimal on the street.
