Their are some small gaps where the snorkal meets the chamber (air can not excape though) and that probably adds to the volume.

oh and sound matters to me the most because i dont expect mind blowing performance from an intake and i drive in the city so that means no where to race to begin with. nothing is left other than sound quality and LOOKS
