Default VIS CF Trunk Question POST PICTURES

so I have the chance to pick up a CF trunk a buddy of mine bought for his S2k. Its still new in the box and was never opened ( he bought it and then wrecked his S before he could install it ) My question is does anyone have this trunk and how well is the fitment? I dont want to drive as far as I am going to have to drive to buy a trunk that is going to have bad gaps and what not. Let me know if anyone has ever had any fitment issues or anything out of them...

maybe post some pictures of yours if you have them so that I can see how they will look.. Thanks for the help!

The thing about low end composite product is that they don't have the same level of QC of high end product(spoon, mugen, j's, etc)

so you can have a close to perfect fitting hood from one badge and a poor fitting hood form another badge. It's always a gamble with those knock off cheapie

I had a vis hood on my older honda, it fits like a glove, slightly bigger gap on one side and that was it. very very happy with it for the price i paid, it was shiny like new after 4 years of socal sun.

on the other hand my seibon trunk was a total waste of time(long drive to pick it up), gap everywhere, one side of the trunk is warped from the mold, it looks like someone just hit me on the side with a slimjim.

like i said, it's a gamble with those low end product

yeah I have heard that. I know when he bought his that he picked up the hood and trunk for about 1300 or so I think in a package deal somewhere. The hood fit good when i seen it as far as the gaps and stuff but just never got around to putting the trunk on. May make the drive and do a test fit just to see what it looks like.

Would still love to see some pictures of some VIS trunks maybe some more opinions on fitment as I wont be able to go til the weekend so it gives me the rest of the week of getting everyones opinions

hey, i just happened to be searching for vis trunk info and saw this thread. not sure if you've put on the trunk yet or not but here's my $.02

mine is very hazy and the oxidizing won't stop no matter what i do to it (temp solution in next paragraph). I have a feeling this is due to some type of wax i used at some point which is weird to me (I used to work at a body shop). Any ways the fitment on mine is okay... it leaks a little bit (if it rains hard or i point the hose at it in the right direction) and it seams like the gap is pretty large but doesn't look bad per se. I have a feeling the guy who i bought the car from put it on wrong (the bolts can usually slide with trunk and hood for proper alignment, at least in most cars from the experience i've had during my job as a body shop employee) I have not had time to fix this yet, or at least attempt to. Let me know how yours turns out.

if you do start getting some oxidation on it that seems to go away when washing then suddenly appears again after 5 or 10 minutes, try pledge moisturizing (the bronze colored pledge). it worked great for me until it rains, or i wash the car. then i just reapply and its good. I'm going to attempt to wet sand and buff the trunk eventually, but at this point in my life its just easier to use the pledge if i go to shows or just want to look nice.

IMPORTANT:

if you use the stock trunk springs, always try to hold the trunk if you use the key fob to open (or the trunk button), it will spring up very quickly and bounce a little bit from the trunk going up too fast.

hope that helps!
