Default voodoo shift knob

i've heard countless great remarks regarding these knobs and am about to purchase one on ricks2k.com

i've done a search already but i've got some conflicting results so i got some quick q's

1) out of all knobs (excluding the titanium which i will not purchase), which type is the one to require the least amount of maintenance? i.e. pearl, polished, spun aluminum, polished, textured black
i don't want to have to clean/polish it and such after a while to keep it in good shape

2) there was some post about using tape or something to the shifter? i'm not too sure it seems like something dealing with the shift boot not going all the way up to the shifter due to the knob? haha i might be imagining things with this one but oh well

thanks in advanced!

i had a pearl knob before.

- zero maintenance. just don't ding it with rings on your finger.
- never used tape on anything. the shift boot fit perfectly (better than w/ oem knob)

I just recieved my Pearl Voodoo Knob last week. The Pearl finish is awsome and flows great with the interior. In regards to the shift boot, I just put a zip tie around the iside of the boot and the knob and boot sit flush with each other. As you already may know the shifting feels great and this is with out a doubt a great mod. I also had the knob engraved and it looks perfect. Rick is awsome to deal with.

I am thinking of getting a Voodoo knob too. How is the weight of the aluminium?

1) I have Spun aluminum and it matches my radio door perfectly!
2) Just unravel some of the shift boot leather to have it sit higher and you should have no issue

Great mod and a huge bang for your buck both for aesthetics and function

Featherweight. They are hollow.

Textured Black FTW!!!
They might have been talking about using teflon tape on the threads so that if you have a pattern engraved, you can have it oriented the way you want to. Just my guess...

This is the knob I bought:

It was a straight fit and weighs about the same as the O.E. knob.
No issues with this baby and to top it off it's countersunk about an inch.
One of my most favorite interior mods.

My knob is really getting polished. My spun aluminum Voodoo that is. I've had it for about a year and I swap it out for the Mugen on occasion, with age it's taken on a shine, not like chrome, but like polished alloy. The Voodoo is a terrific value for such a great product.

You couldn't even if you wanted to...
