Thumbs up What is a downpipe, and is it worth it?

Hi Guys

I currently have the following setup:
2000 S2000
Skunk2 Mega Power Exhaust
Megan Racing Test Pipe
K&N FIPK
Unichip

A friend keeps talking about a downpipe, what is it, and is it a worthy upgrade to my current setup - if not, what would you do next?

I'd like to stay NA on this S2000.

Thanks for that very informative post... its obvious you have a superior understanding of things mechanical, and expect everyone else to have a similar understanding.

WTF is a unichip?

A downpipe is what connects a turbo manifold to the rest of the exhaust. You dont need one since your N/A. Go pimpslap your friend

Thanks for the more informative posts he has a scoobie - so wouldn't know with regards to an S2000....

Unichip:
http://www.unichip.us/

It did make a noticeable difference to the vehicle, I'm going to have the vehicle dyno'd next week, so will post the results then.

Also want to see if Flux is compatible - http://www.unichip.us/89-flux

Seems if you're labelled Guest your information is limited.

As a matter of interest, there's a lambo putting down better times than a Bugatti using Unichip...

If you're NA you won't/can't use a downpipe. If you're turbo a downpipe is more of a necessity rather than an option. as far as other mods to do you can do an aftermarket header since you've done your intake and the rest of your exhaust, or you can start doing suspension mods, coilovers etc...haven't heard of a unichip but from the description it sounds like an ecu/tuning device...Personally if I were doing anything ECU wise to my car I'd go with something more well known (emanage ultimate or vafc etc), not to be on any sort of bandwagon but because I'd rather have an ecu device that more people would be able to tune and tune well. But again I dont know much if anything about the unichip so maybe you already know enough to tune it or have someone do it for you.
