Default what exhaust should I get.

Hello all. I have been an S2K owner for several years now. When I got the car it came with a comptech catback exhaust. Probably not the best performing but it sounds and looks great and wss IMO one of the best street exhausts. I had planned on swapping it out when I bought the car but was talked out of it. However, now I have supercharger set up pushing 12 PSI with a 70MM test pipe and aftermarket headers. I believe the catback is holding me back. I believe the piping is only 2.25in (maybe?). I am guessing I will need a 70mm single or dual. I have kind of been looking at either the invidia or Greddy. Either singles or duals.

Anyone have any feedback? the invidia appears to be less expensive new or used however used catbacks seem hard to find. was probably going to go with a single for more power and less weight. My only concern is the noise. And not that it will be loud but that I wouldn't be able to hear the radio over it on the freeway. so it being loud at full throttle isn't a problem. I do however have an aftermarket deck, speakers, and amp for the speakers so I couldn't imagine it being that bad.

id get the invidia q300 in single or dual. Its relatively cheap. Its 70mm which will yield good gains. Its pretty quite when cruising but really lights up at high RPMs. You already have a matching test pipe too!

Thanks guys. I ended up buying a new Invidia 70MM single. I was dead set on a 70MM so I ruled out the Megan and didn't mind spending a little extra. Would have liked to get an ASM but I they were a little harder to find and out of my price range. I really wanted the Greddy but I already had the invidia test pipe and the invidia was cheaper than the Greddy. They seem to be virtually the same thing so thought id save some money. I liked the look of the duals but I felt the performance of the single and weight advantage forced me to get a single. If it is to loud I can always throw the comptech back on and sell the catback.

You didn't look at challenge or litespec? I kinda dig the full titanium litespec for only $900

I measured my Comptech before putting it in, and it was 60mm, a literal hair under 2.5".

So, yea, it's probably holding you back somewhat, but you may not gain much with something else. I know for me, it definitely added something on because I gained +115HP on just ~5 PSI (from a baseline, stock car to a SOS stage 1 and CT exhaust). While my kit is 6psi nominal, you always lose some, and I think the exhaust is allowing more through, reducing manifold pressure even more.

I've tried/rode with a few exhausts, and the Comptech is the best (IMO) for the street. True, not the best performing, but the best sound and looks (again IMO). I wasn't ever going to get a test pipe, so didn't need to have the absolute highest flow. The tips don't have that "sheet of thin steel" and "obviously modified" look that pretty much all the others have and the build is very solid (only a little lighter than OEM really). I had an Invidia before, and it was louder, but the day to day life with it got pretty miserable. If I were going for absolute max HP, I'd go for a louder single, myself. I wanted something that made my blower more efficient, looked great, and sounded great with few downsides, so I went CT. It really has little drone, and it can be eliminated with throttle manipulation. the Invidia was drone city (but mine was a dual, Ti tips).

I also checked out the Litespec from a banner ad here. If my priorities were something other than what they are now, I'd get that one, so that's the one I'd recommend to you

thanks for the input. Ill see how loud the invidia is. I would consider the litespec but I wasn't going to pay that much for it. If it performs good then it is going to have to be less restrictive and thus louder in most cases. Having the test pipe really makes the noise louder as well so my comptech isn't that quite anymore almost defeating the purpose. not to mention with the novi 1000 running at 12 psi and the 1000cc injectors clicking the car isn't going to be quite anytime soon.

im surprised you made that much power. I didn't make that much with the 6PSI pulley probably only 300 with the stand alone and exhaust, but when I went to 12PSI i felt that I should have made more power than I did and I think the exhaust is a key factor. That plus the tune is very conservative.

Berk
Sounds so good, not ricey at all, and not TOO loud, but dont get me wrong, still loud lol.
And unlike my megan which i had for a year, there is practically no drone... but when you punch it, there it is, back to life. Also has a full headerback option so you dont need to worry about getting a test pipe.
