what lugs to use with d2's black rotas
Adding to CoralDoc's reply, yes, you have to make sure the lug nut mating surfacing matches the wheel appropriately. I have the Rota D2's on my car and the stock lug nuts will not work properly with this wheel. The stock nuts have a "spherical" mating surface; you need an "acorn/tapered" shaped mating surface to seat to the Rota D2's. You can easily get these lug nuts at Discount Tire, or even Murray's. Additionally, you'll may need a thin walled socket extension to install the nuts without scratching the rims; just a word of caution because I had to deal with this.
As far as color, I'd stay stick with silver/chrome lug nuts on a black wheel.

Christopher

im actually using my stock lugs on the d2's ..it works for me ...i just had to use a long thin wall socket to clear the rims .....but im getting muteki
Do not continue to drive the car until lug nuts with the correct seats are installed.I have seen what can happen if you use a spherical seat lug nut on a tapered seat rim ... and it is not pretty. Even when properly torqued the lug nuts can loosen, and in one case I observed a wheel become liberated from the car at speed.

yeah i know..thats why im about to buy muteki this wednesday to change them ?? they're safe right ?
Also, it is important to be careful when buying aftermarket lug nuts that you use the correct ones for your rims. E.g. do not use the common tapered seat lug nuts on OEM rims. I have seen this occur when owners want to use light weight or special design lug nuts on thier OEM wheels. Knowledgeable venders will correctly guide the purchase, but some purchse the wrong ones due to lack of knowledge about this important design consideration.
As I mentioned above, the consequence of using the wrong lug nuts can be dire. Mis-matched sets do not mate with the rim properly, can loosen and fall off = not a good thing.
This whole discussion about color is secondary to the critical need to use the correct design lug nut.

If they have the same seat as the rims, then yes, they are safe. It's easy to check. When you have the rims off the car inspect the design of the lug nut seat on the rim. It will either have a flat seating surface or a curved one. The S2000 OEM rims have a curved seating surface (=ball or spherical seat), whereas most aftermarket rims have a flat seating surface (=tapered or conical seat). Honda is one of the few manufacturers that uses a ball seat and that is why Honda OEM lug nuts should not be used on most aftermarket rims.
