Is the Berks and/or the magnaflow CARB approved?
for those of us who really don't want to contribute too much to the smog level here in the city of lost angels

None of them are CARB approved. Don't believe what the salesmen tell you.
what you have is a "less illegal" cat that flows at 87% of that of a test pipe. and while i dont need a smog test for another year, it is claimed to pass the visual and the sniffer test.
that's a thumbs up from me here in cali.....oh, and it made my exhaust sound so much better. smoothed out that 3k drone.
from the Random Tech web site
"This design, which meets Federal EPA and California ARB requirements, enables virtually any vehicle with a properly tuned engine to meet emissions standards with little, if any power loss (compared to an exhaust with no catalytic converter). Please note that it is illegal to remove a properly functioning catalytic converter and that aftermarket catalytic converters are not legal for installation in California on OBD II vehicles (some 1994 & 1995, and all 1996 and later vehicles)."
so no not CARB approved or legal - but yes enviro-friendly-ish and unlikely to catch the eye of the smog tester...
plus Sideways approved - which counts for a lot around here

How much did that set you back?
If I had to do it all over I would just get a 70mm TP and a find a good cat and have it welded in.
