Default Wheel Bearing Question

Hi all...

I'm planning on changing both of my rear hubs and wheel bearings over the next couple weeks.

I found rear hubs online for cheap, so I am just going to have the bearings pressed on and swap the entire unit.

My question is: are wheels bearings the same on for front and rear? All of the bearings I see listed online are "front fitment". I've yet to see one specifically for the rear, so I am assuming they are the same.

Thanks

Hey I saw this
http://www.carpartswholesale.com/v5/...Wheel+bearing+

There is one listed for front and rear.

I'm in for an answer as I have a noise I think may be the bearing and hub. Trying to price out the cost on all this.

I looked up some bearings made by National. They list the same p/n for the front and rear, so I think I am safe in assuming they are the same. I picked some up at a local auto parts store for $30 per bearing. I'm just going to replace both rears. I'm also going to replace both rear hubs with a Dorman OEM replacement p/n 930-465. If you shop around, you can find all the parts for ~$200. Not sure what labor will be. Hopefully not toooo much.

Yup sure will. I'm on the road at the moment, but I'll do it when I get home Friday.

For God's sake man go with OEM hubs. I bought one of those cheap hubs you're talking about and busted at least 10 wheel studs before I learned it was the hub and not the studs causing it. You know how much of a bitch it is to change the studs since you basically have to take the entire assembly apart to do so. Save time and a ton of heartache and just buy an OEM hub. Learn from my failure.

I've already ordered the Dorman hubs. This is the first I've ever heard anybody complain about them.

That is the exact brand I had, I was replacing studs on that thing almost every weekend. Went OEM and it never happened again.

how did you install the studs? hammered them in or did you use a stud installer tool?

Installation is usually the issue... aftermarket hubs aren't bad, just requires more care when installing studs and into the knuckle.
