Default Yellow Box speedometer adjuster on DBW...

A friend just got 4.77's in his ap1 and I was impressed by the performance increase. I started looking into gears as well. Gave me a great price to build my diff with 4.77's for my MY07. So I browsed and searched all around and found no good results of the yellow box working properly on a DBW S. All the posts I have found told me not to mess with the MY06+ DBW harness...Much more complicated and different than the pre-MY06 harness. So I made this post to see if anyone is successfully running a yellow box in their DBW MY06+ S?

I haven't tried installing one, but I sure wouldn't hesitate doing so if I had aftermarket gears. I had 4.77's and a yellow box in my '02 AP1, but I wouldn't consider 4.77's in an AP2. The lower rev limit combined with the lower gear ratios in 1st - 3rd would make 4.77's way too low IMHO.The AP2 is already similar to an AP1 with 4.77's with regard to max speeds in the lower gears.

I have the yellow box on my '06 w/o any issues. I actually sold my 4.56 diff & set the yellow box to 0 adjustment. I left it in place because I was too lazy to do the resplicing.

4.77 in an AP2 is dumb.

It was great on the street. It was ok on track (depending on the layout). It was waay too short at the auto-x. Overall, I prefer the stock ratio.

^ Sounds like a winning combo if you get to keep the speed/gear.
