There was a thread were someone put a rubber washer (like from your garden hose) on the shifter to fix the shift boot from falling down. I put it on and now my shift boot sits flush with my shift knob.

dyhppy 07-31-2007 12:14 PM

or get the short shifter and the boot will never fall down

External:
Blacked out tail lights - ***/$
pros: cheap, easy to do, goes with my red/black theme
cons: illegal

Volk LE28 - *****/$$$$
pros: light weight, great looking, JDM baller, rare, goes with my theme
cons: expensive

Interior:
NRG steering wheel - ****/$$
pros: lighter than stock, smaller, feels much better, not too expensive
cons: parking is sometimes a pain, illegal (removes airbag)

Momo hub - */$
pros: easy to install, fits several brands of steering wheels
cons: not a quick-release

JPM accessories shift boot - ***/FREE
pros: free boot and installation, won in WTD raffle, custom stitched, goes great with my red/black theme
cons: none

T1R shift knob - ****/$$$$
pros: shorter shifting, feels better, looks sweet
cons: expensive for a shift knob, but worth it

Performance:
K&N short ram intake - ***/$$
pros: cheap, easy to install, good throttle response, no danger of hydrolock, good sound
cons: on a hot day can cause engine bog, not as much HP as JDM intakes

Slow Motion Motorsports custom 3" header-back exhaust - ****/$$$
pros: LOUD, nice and deep sound, 12whp gain, no other S2k sounds like mine
cons: LOUD, needs tuned to be fully effective, have to find somebody willing to risk doing a cat-delete

Toda spec B cams, cam gears, valve springs - ****/$$$$$
pros: world of difference, VTEC hits extremely hard, sounds amazing
cons: EXPENSIVE, lopey idle, loss of power below 5,000RPM, runs pig rich without a good tune

Advan A048 medium compound tires - *****/$$$$$$$$$$$$
pros: makes your car handle like a go-kart
cons: don't even bother driving in the rain, plan on replacing rears every 5k miles, get your checkbook out ($1100 a set with mounting and balancing on stock AP1 rims, closer to $1400 for my Volks)

Overall, I'm pretty happy with my mods so far. The red/black theme is coming together nicely. Performance wise, below 5,000RPM is very sluggish. However, when staying in VTEC, I usually have to short shift to keep from running into the person in front of me. From a 40mph roll in 2nd gear, I've pulled on a supercharged C5 and a Porsche 911. From a dig, very tricky to launch on street tires. Once you get up into the powerband where the cams really kick in, you tend to spin tires quite a bit. I would recommend milder cams unless you have a small nitrous kit or a supercharger to get more low end power.

I'd be interested in seeing before/after dynos for those Toda SpecB cams. Do you have anything like that? BTW... you don't mention aftermarket pistons. I thought Toda said pistons (with deeper valve reliefs) were required for their SpecB & SpecC cams.

S2000 Owner for 4years and a few months. Car Purchased Bone Stock

MY: 2000 Silverstone

Mods:

Exterior:

* Carbon Fiber Hood, Mirrors, Trunk - B/C I like it.
* Gloss Black PCd AP1 Wheels w/ S-02 - B/C I like it.
* OEM Lip - B/C I like it.
* Megan Racing Coilovers - Big Difference - much :heart: - still needs adjusting though.
* Windshield Tape Removed - B/C I like it.
* Ricks Badges - B/C I like it.
* Coastal Metals Front Grills - B/C I like it.
* Key Hole Plugs - B/C I like it.

Interior: Red/Black

* Muz Black/Red Floor Mats - Way better than OEM - pricey but worth it.
* AP2 Radio Door - B/C I like it.
* AP2 Center Console - a must have
* JPM Limited Editiion "S2000" Shift Boot - B/C I like it.
* Skunk 2 Shift Knob - HATE IT - sets to high, investigating new options
* 2003 Radio - Clock (thats it)
* Rear Speaker Mod - extreme difference in sound compared to AP1 2 speakers.
* Modifry Glove Box Organizer - Best MOD for the money by far.
* MoMo Tuner Steering Wheel w/ NRG Carbon Fiber Quick Release Hub - Comfortable - lose Cruise Control - unless you hardwire it in.

Performance:

* Comptech Header
* Comptech Exhaust
* Comptech High Flow Cat
*------ Comptech Titanium STB (not installed anymore SC clearance issues :( )
*------ Comptech Red Original STB (not installed anymore SC clearance issues :( )
(Yes, I still have both - they are just expensive towel racks)
* Comptech Reinforced Diff - Must Have if you plan on making more HP or install gears. That little extra insurance goes a long way.
* Ricks 4.57 Gears
* Vortech SC'd w/ AC as of 8/22/2007 FTMFWii!!1! - excellent - Cons - I want more power.
* Cusco Cooling Panel - Painted to Match Car - helps not much difference - Mainly cosmetic.
* Stop Tech Brake Kit - Slotted Rotors, SS Lines, ATE Fluid, Axis Pads - OEM Brakes are fine - I think SS Brake lines (when installed and bled properly with a Good Brake Fluid makes a HUGE difference)

Misc

* Top Down While Moving Mod - If you don't have this mod, you'd better have a HT that never comes off.
* Modifry Shift Beeper - Couldn't be happier with this mod - takes the guess work out of shifting, helps a great deal when you need to keep you eyes on the road and in ^ RPMs -( like when your on US129 )
* 2nd 12v Accessory Mod - Easy, inexpensive, and a big help if you need to keep wires out of the way while driving or if you need two things charging at once
* Key Fob Active While in Ignition Mod - quick easy mod, that is helpful if you have a lot of passengers.
* Cruise Control Hardwire (d/t loss of OEM Steering wheel)
