Default Zinc Plating?

Looking to get the bolts in my engine bay zinc plated while I have my motor out and apart. Has anyone done this before and used a specific company? Results? Price? Reviews? Just looking for some insight on here before I jump on the first zinc plating company I find on Google. Thanks fellas!

They usually let you do it by the bucket. Whatever you can fit in their bucket, they'll charge a flat rate. But that's only from my personal experience. If you want the hardware to be super shiny zinc, you might need the parts to get tumbled with media before the zinc coating process. Find a good local plating company and go from there.

Would it be cheaper just to buy new, zinc plated bolts? Most of what is under the hood is standard metric bolts - so they shouldn't be hard to find.

Gold color is a zinc dichromate coating. "Yellow zinc" is a common name for it.

"Clear zinc" gives you that translucent silver look.

"Silver zinc" gives you a solid silver/gray appearance.

Zinc plating isn't a strong anti - corrosion coat. But its probably the best overall coating for hardware.

We get charged about $300 a "lot" it doesn't matter if its a single bolt/nut or a full pallet. Hope this helps.

Just to throw an update up here. I ended up finding a company out of Rochester, New York called Rochester plating. I dealt with a gentleman named Mike over there and his service was outstanding. I had 200+ pieces done for under $100 including shipping both ways. The pieces came back looking like they were done by King Midas himself lol. If anyone is looking to have this work done give him a call. The contact number I have for him is (585) 328-4590.
