Default 75mm test pipe?

Hi NA'ers,

I have a 70mm TP right now on a 70mm dual exhaust. I'll be switching to the 75mm HKS single exhaust tomorrow. I'm wondering if it's worth the effort to sell my 70mm TP (I got it for $50 brand new so I could easily sell it for $70) and have a 75mm test pipe made by my friend's shop (also very cheap to do)? I'll be running this exhaust system from first an OEM header, and in the next week or two I'll be switching to the PLM header.

Let me know what you think. Also, resonated or nonresonated TP? I have a nonresonated TP right now and it sounds great.

Thanks!

its probably very very minimal...but i too have a FIPK, J's header, 70MM test pipe and 75MM exhaust...so i'm a bit curious...

BTW it sounds fantastic...you'll love it if you dont mind the noise...

Everything after the collector is a restriction. If it's cheap for you to make the swap, then do it.

PS you'll love the HKS 75mm. I don't have my test-pipe on yet but it sounds very nice.

I'll do it then. It won't cost me anything to swap.

And yes, it does sound very sexy. I've heard my friend's and ridden in his car... it's really not that loud. It seems about as quiet if not quieter than my Skunk2 with silencers in. And the skunk2 is pretty damn loud and droney without a test pipe especially.

I'll probably also replace the HKS' stock resonator with a 3" Vibrant resonator. I'm sure that'll cut down on the noise even further.

I would do it. Just get the 75mm test pipe to match the 75 mm exhaust

It might be the same set-up I run as well.

We should form a club. "75mm headerback + PLM represent!"

I will report to you guys my results once I put the exhaust on tomorrow and get the test pipe made. Still debating on resonated vs nonresonated. I doubt resonated will incur any power loss vs nonresonatoed...?

Unresonated naturally aspirated 4cylinder = that buzzing sound everyone hates. You know every 1993 Honda Civic DX that sounds like someone drilled holes into the cat and muffler? Yeah, that's typically caused by not having a proper resonator setup in the exhaust.

Resonators won't cost you any horsepower (ok, maybe .25) and you won't embarrass every other Honda and S2000 owner out there with your ricey exhaust.
