Default Berk cat or test pipe

berk states their cat has somewhere between 78-83% flow vs their test pipe(i believe).
so the cat will not give u a smell but will the cat be safer for the engine. will i feel any difference with the cat or the test pipe.

Flow isn't the issue.

It depends on your overall setup on how much difference it will be. Do u plan on tuning the car?

You'll make more gains from a test pipe (especially with tuning) , but at the expense of a louder car and some smell. Personally, if it was a dd, I'd go with the HFC.

its not a daily driver but i dont want my car to get destroyed faster with a test pipe and no back pressure when downshifting and potentially raising the heat back towards the engine. i dont know if that makes sense but i want my fujitsubo exhaust to sound nice and if I can get a great sound with a hi flow cat and kill the smell that would come with a test pipe then i will. how much of a smell do you get with the testpipe? is it annoying? does it smell all the time?

ive made up my mind and am going to exchange the test pipe for the hi flow cat. sound was what i wanted, but i dont want the smell or the extra pollutants for the folks driving behind me.

cant wait to get my cat and exhaust :]

if i could do it all over again, i would buy both HFC and TP and tune for both.

I'm just getting one. I've heard the legali r with stock cat but I'm sure the hfc will sound meaner and no test pipe smell. I'll keep all posted once all is installed

Why would you do that? Would you swap back and forth for different events (track vs. daily driving)? While that's not all that hard to do, I don't believe it's a practical solution long term. I also don't think getting tuned twice (at $200 - $400 each) is very appealing.

I realize that this comes across as self promotion, especially since my username now says "Sponsor", but as a long-time S2000 enthusiast, I feel compelled to share about the breakthrough pertaining to test pipes and HFC's. If you look at the link I posted at the beginning of this thread, you'll see that you can have an HFC that actually performs better than a TP, and ensures that you'll have virtually zero drone.

Here's a thread I created over a year ago after doing an extensive test of the stock cat, HFC's, and TP's.
