Thanks for the tips gernby, I appreciate it, good information there.

Ive had the AC on, on all of these, but Ill make sure to turn it off when I go do all the calibrations at the same time. I think I found the road Im gonna use tonight when I was data logging for my etunes. These are tune 1 and tune 4 (latest tune atm) done within 5 mins of each other, same road, same lane, same direction.

Tune 1 vs Tune 4. Tune 1 is still more powerful, and feels so. This is the 5th log of this tune Ive graphed and gotten 235whp+

Heres tune 4 vs AEM base tune.

And base tune vs new tune 1 pull

As Gernby pointed out these probably arnt too accurate, especially the base tune vs other tunes since the base tune was done in Houston, TX and the others are done in Oklahoma lol

Earlier today, I ordered my own etune with EMS for my '03. After reading this post I'm pretty stoked to get started even though your testing isn't really all that accurate.

I got a tune last season on a dyno and didn't really get much out of it but bad mileage and a lot of wasted gas.

I havnt read a single bad review about Jeff so I'm super excited to start the process.

I got pretty bad mileage on the first couple tunes, as he ran them rich to be safe, (18mph freeway lol) but its getting better with each revision he sends me, plus from what I hear from other people, after all the power has been sorted out on the last few revisions he works on the fuel economy, which will be great with gas prices as they are now

So tonight im out doing a proper comparison of all the tunes using all of Gernbys guidelines. Stay tuned for results! I got my 5th Calibration tonight and it feels the strongest out of them all so I'm pretty excited to see how it stacks up!

Got my base tune done tonight and awaiting my second. How do I stick my WOT pulls into that VD software ?

Your gonna need to make sure you log AT LEAST throttle and engine speed, preferably o2 (o2 and engine speed go in fast, throttle goes in slow). Then go into AEMlog, open the file, zoom in on the WOT part (your pull) and go to file > export as text. Then you choose o2, engine speed and throttle. Go into VD and open up the text file. (make sure you have a profile for your s2k)

I havent figured out how to average my pulls yet, but I did two of each pull, and then just picked the best one. I did an AEM basetune pull, tune1, tune 3 and tune 5. (was getting late didnt want to do 2 & 4) Anyways the procedure was the exact same for each pull, started at a yellow line on the road in 3rd gear ~15mph, left lane going same direction, AC off, top up, windows up. Pulled over same spot after each run, downloaded log, turned around went back to the same spot, rinse and repeat.

Heres my results.

All of the pulls tonight

Base tune vs etune1

Base tune vs etune3

Base tune vs etune 5

etune 1 vs etune 3

etune 1 vs etune 5

etune 3 vs etune 5

As you can see, etune 1 is still quite a bit more powerful up top, but about the same as the other etunes down low / midrange. The AEM base tune is relatively strong considering as well. You can tell the 6k vtec vs the 3.8k vtec. He still hasnt really messed with the timing yet, this is all AFR tuning essentially, so hopefully with timing the low end will liven up a bit and I'll see the power levels that etune1 was seeing.

Looks like you're getting closer to having more consistent results. For averaging, I'd think maybe taking several pulls, and taking the one in the middle or closest to the average is probably more accurate than doing two and picking the highest. Could you also post the graph of the log file with the pulls?

Well 'best' didn't mean highest in this case, I took the one that looks the "most right" I'd that makes sense, honestly though both graphs were just about the exact same.

Do you mean the AEMlog files? There's about 8 of them. Im not quite sure what your asking.

Is there a reason why you are stopping between each run to download the logs? If you can, it would be better to do multiple pulls without stopping, so that you can minimize heat soak. Your IAT and ECT goes up very quickly while stopped, and takes much longer to cool back down once you're moving again..

If the dyno software doesn't have a function to average the pulls, then you won't be able to do it. My software has a function that simply averages the lines. This allows me to get much more detail from the plot by eliminating the "noise" that appears in the individual plots.
