Default 04 wheels and tires

I have an 02 and have decided to purchase a set of 04 wheels. After much looking I decided to go with these because I like the way they look and they actually fit!!

My question is should I stay with the same size tires or should I try to get a bit more rubber on the road, anyone know what would be a good setup, want to retain the same balance?? Any thoughts , input??

Thanks!

Easy, bucko! I only just saw this. Others are at the Phoenix National Tour and may be, umm, busy.

Wider tires may be a good thing at the track but for around town I think I'd stay with stock sizes. Good combination of economy, performance and comfort. Wider tires will introduce more road noise/feel into the chassis, probably lower gas mileage slightly as well acceleration (more friction). You'd need more camber to take advantage of the wider width, too.

shoulda go with wider tires...you'll notice the good handling right away...the spec on '04 s2k is 17x7.0 / 17x8.5 Bridgestone Potenza RE050 Tires (front/rear) P215/45 R17 87W / P245/40 R17 91W...i've actually seen a video (hot version) where a '04 and a '03 s2k exchange wheels...the '03 s2k with the '04 wheels actually run 1.5 sec faster than its stock wheels. But '04 soften the suspention 10% in the rear, if you get 245/40 in the rear for a 01-03 s2k, you won't be expecting any comfort when you hit a bump.

Thanks jeff!

Sorry didnt mean to sound too antsy! So What if I do plan on tracking the car. What would be the sizes to run on the 04 wheels. I am willing to give up some noise and fuel economy for better handling. Thanks

I haven't been watching what sizes are available in 17s. Depending on whether you have a large front bar, I'd try to stick with as close as possible to the stock stagger front-to-rear. In any event, you'll want to dial in more camber to make them work best. More than likely, the wider the tire, the more camber.
