Default 1/4 mile question

anyone think i can hit in the 12's with 4.57 and a small to medium shot of nitrous? I know a lot of you don't like the quarter mile in the s2k, but i like to know how fast my car is....haven't had the gear installed yet...they are sitting in my bedroom...just lookin for opinions

Doubtful! I don't think you could even break the mid thirteens, if that.

For one thing, it seems to me you'd want to get the car tuned for the nitrous and things like the vtec point adjusted.

Now that we are on the subject of 1/4 mile times. So a stock s2000 good driver should be able to net 14.0 all day long. Then wouldn't gears give you at lease 2-3 tenths off that. I went from a 3:27 to a 4:10 in my cobra and jumped over a second gain. A 55 Shot wouldn't in turn possibly net a 12.9 or better. Doesn't make sense. Civic Hatch , weight 2650, transplant motor, 195 horsey +60 shot==12.8. Either the S2000 doesn't have the power, the car is heavier than we all think, or we all just suck at 1/4 mile times. I agree we all like the auto-x but we should be able to at least come up with a good 1/4 mile in the process.

Baaaaahaaaaa sure you'll get a 2650 pound Civic into the 12's with a swap and a 60 shot

High 12's are definably possible. It's been proven that 4.44 gears will yield around a 13.5 or under in ideal conditions. That leads me to believe the 4.57

thanks for the info guys...i know that italianbuckwheat made a .422 improvement on the 0-60 time with the 4.44's, and i would believe that it might be a little more than that w/ the 4.57's. then w/ a shot to put it over the top....i think i would be happy with high 12's (for a while) i would love to take the car on a circle track, but don't know of much of that going on in my area, so i'll take anything that'll help keep me from hauling ass on the street (too much, can't let someone show me up if i can help it.)

Try autocross. You'll be shocked at how much fun it is.

I don't suggest to know the specifics about the various gears and the shifting points, but i do know that lower gears do not always equal lower times. Additional shifts result in delays. I've seen many cars that gear themselves right out of competition. If ever lower gears meant ever faster times you'd be running 5.90s.
