Default 18x10s all around

I think we've previously hijacked a couple of other threads to discuss this. Can't find 'em, so I'm starting a new one.

Recap:
- I'm following lead of others and moving to a non-staggered setup
- Going to run 18x10s so I can run take off race slicks and big ass DOT Rs for series that require same
- John and CCW suggested going with a wheel setup that will allow wheels to be used front and back ... so that's what I did
- John set up wheels for rear backspace and made a 1 inch spacer for up front

Update ...

I don't have tires yet to mount, so I just did a test fit today of the rims. The center hole for the both the wheels and the spacers are not big enough to fit on the front wheels. Already sent an email to CCW about this and I'm sure John will get it resolved.

Reason for the post is that while test fitting I don't see any reason why the fronts (once the center hole is big enough) won't work fine without the spacer. There is about a two finger gap between the inside lip of the rim and the damper. I thought the spacer was to create the spacing needed ... but isn't a couple finger widths more than enough?

Here's some pics:

Closer view same angle as above. I can put a couple of fingers between the inside lip of the wheel and the damper. With tire mounted and car on the ground the wheel will be up higher, so the gap will be even larger. Why do I need a spacer up front?

It isn't because of the strut, its for clearance on the upper a-arm when turning. Mount the wheel, and then start turning the steering wheel. You'll hit the upper a-arm.

Are the GFL upper control arms narrower? I did play with that as well (again not tires on, but that shouldn't matter in this case. Didn't hit anywhere that I could tell.

Sick wheels. I didn't know CCW made anything in that kind of style. What's the weight/cost?

If the center holes aren't big enough, how could you test fit for clearance?

Anyway, spacers in some instances are needed for clearing a thick brake caliper.

They're just a minor variation on the 1pcs I have (I have the 2nd set he made). He just changed the design a little to save weight. They weigh the same as the 3pc.

Not w/ the 1pc ccws. Huge clearance w/o spacer.
