2006 OTC
Just got caught up on this thread
.
We should do the 3-day Buttonwillow in Oct as a lead-up to a 7-day event in 2007. Planning for both would need to begin now.
In terms of the target audience, I think we want the people and cars that participate fairly REGULARLY in HPDE events.... no newbies with no track experience and not the SCCA/NASA racecars. We would then need to focus on structuring it so it feels different than a regular HPDE event.... multiple days, cumulative times, teams, great awards etc. as people have already suggested.

With all this talk about rules etc...I think what someone needs to do is bring their corner scales and weigh the car w/driver. Have a rented axle dyno and measure the power of the car.
Make power to weight ratio lists, and make up the classes on the spot. As easy as it should be. Differences in tires can be used to fine tune the class placement...
Just an idea.
