2006 S2000 Challenge series
Sorry guys... still working out the points days. Aaron would like to keep the points days to weekend dates since more people can attend those. I'll have the issue resolved soon.
As for the mod points; I think we're there. If anyone has a strong objection to anything in the new points system, please voice it now (with your reasoning) or forever hold your pee.

OK, what other 20 point mod gives you a 10-20hp boost? A supercharger gives you 100-150 HP for 100 points... An intake gives you 3-5HP for 10 points... A VAFC gives you a 5-15 HP boost for 15 points.
What do you think is fair?
*Additionally, the AP2 tranny gives you the equivalent of an AP1 with 4.3 gears. If you put 4.3 gears in your AP1, you'd be assessed 25 points just for that alone. (Thanks Ashish.

)We need more AP2 out there at the track!
I do feel that gearing is very subjective. It helps sometimes (Buttonwillow is perfect) and hurts sometimes (Big Willow and Streets).
In the end, power doesn't really matter too much. Its about average speed and how fast you can come out the corners. I think...
I should go dyno my car someday.
I still feel people will be punished for buying a AP2. Honda rates the engine the same. SCCA has them in same AutoX group.
I also know that the E36 M3 went though couple changes from engine size to wheel width. I belive they are all still classified the same.
An AP1 with a proper intake, header and dual exhaust will make a lot more power consistently at the track. The hot gas will exit the combustion chamber with improved efficiency. This reduces the opportunity for the ECU to retard its timing.
Improved Throttle Response
Constant Power
Lighter Components
I want to try out new parts but with these rules, it makes it very hard for AP2 to try diffrent parts for a learning experience.
In the end, don't we all want to know what works and doesn't work at the track (including go-fast parts)?

I like the way the rules are set up for Street vs Race in the Time Attack thing Aaron set up here: http://speedventures.com/timeattackclassification.asp
well... in the best tradition of motorsports* I've decided that the rules are now finalized.
While there's still a huge range in the modified category, I think that the new rules will make the competition better than ever.
Please post your intention to participate in the new thread.
I'll lock this thread now.
