Arrow 2010 RTA Rules

Have any of you guys read the new rules for the Redline Time Attack Series, yet?

I've reviewed the new Street Class (Section 4) rules and I'm sort of upset about their new "4-10.3 Minimum ride height for all vehicles including all components is 3.5”.".... The Time Attack Forums are buzzing about this issue right now, but Nikolas is standing firm on about it.

In my eyes, I can't really see our cars riding so high up in the air like that, and I would also like to run decent aero for the season (splitter, diffuser, lip, etc). Without a diffusor I would still be running a 3" single exhaust... While my H&R coilovers drop me about of 3/4", I was still planning and running a set of KW V3's that would sit a little lower (possibly). Time to go back to the drawing board.

Since our cars run really low to the ground already I was wondering if any of you have a solution to this problem, if you are planning on running RTA ST this year. I wouldn't mind hearing any suggestions on what could be done to deal with this issue as well (besides having the rules revised, hehe)?

Also, if you've read up on the new rules, what other changes do you not like about the 2010 set?

I will need to measure my S

2-9.4 All vehicles must have a fire extinguisher mounted within reach of the driver while normally seated. The mounting bracket must be securely fastened to the vehicle and made of metal with a quick release type mechanism. Plastic and aerosol type cans are prohibited. Sheet metal screws will not be considered secure mounting.

i don't like that rule, dunno where the hell am i going to mount my fire extinguisher on my S.

if anyone has done in with full interior intact please chime in.

Thanks

Eddie

There's one rule that goes like: "If a car model similar to yours came with a lightweight roof (BMW M3) than you can replace your roof material." But "If your car came with a sunroof (Integra gs-r) then that sunroof must remain." Those two rules don't seem to agree logically.

One thing nice about the 3.5" rule is that the Harbor Freight aluminum jack can access a minimum 3.5" jack point, so this rule means that no one needs ramps or wood blocks to lift his car.

Not sure if this works, but would raising your tire pressure for tech help at all?

Yes raising tire pressue would help. That is why in proper scruitineering an official sets/checks your tire pressure to avoid cheating.

Hahahaha, well, there's nothing wrong with a little extra air in the tires, right??

thanks phantom, i read through it seems like no solution for the S if i don't have a roll bar.

i don't understand why all classes needs a fire extinguisher. i would say mod and above yes. but street and enthusiast class?

The 3.5" ride height rule is not cool. Our cars are fairly low to begin with. I haven't measured my car but looks like we can only lower our cars by 0.7". (internet states that the ground clearance on a stock s2000 is 4.2". Not sure if this is accurate)

I see comments like this on other forums:

"I am guessing a few of the S2000's won't make it with the 3.5" rule"
