oh well... RTA didn't really have the level of competition that was that exciting anyways.
you race in RTA for the coverage...not for the competition.
race in NASA or S2k challenge for the competition

I haven't had time to read all the new changes but from what I've seen so far, it appears like Redline has made a lot of changes for the sake of...making changes or to target specific vehicles. I really would like to see the rationale for the 3.5" ride height. Was it abused in the past? Are they trying to slow cars down? Do they want to make cars look ugly? Whats the deal?
As far as the fire extinguisher rule....is that really necessary in an enthusiast/street car? Statistically, how many street cars in redline have caught on fire? For the modified/unlimited cars that caught on fire last year, did the drivers even use the fire extinguisher? Do the majority of the drivers even know how to use a fire extinguisher?

RTA has definitely lost touch with their customers (us) since the management change. The new class rules were pretty bad. However, they just released section 1 rules tonight, "general competition", and it's just ridiculous.
Some of the highlights include a $100 licensing fee, $1500 protest fees, and all video and photography taken at an event being sole property of RTA.
I was 50/50 on running with them again in 2010. Its now much less.

Another issue. While people are worrying about the rules and building their car around them, are Redline even going to enforce them, or are we going to see last minute class-switching of gutted cars into Street class again? Seriously...

I remeber I looked thru the RTA rules and there was a few things that wouldha kept me out of street class in a 90% stock car
Specifically I think the testpipe rule which I understand but also something about having no kick plates removed - I can't fit my kick plate where the harness from the VAFC sticks out.
I think as I read the rules I could have run a turbo, 2.2l engine swap or something but removing a little piece of plastic interior was a no no.
the 3.5in clearence is really not an issue. I measured our S2000 time attack car in back. and i still clear 3.5in fine. at 4in, the orignal proposal, i woulda had to raise the car up. currently the only change i have to make is to my rear diffuser. Most of the other rules are unchanged in street class from last year.
