225/255 vs 215/245 on 17x8/9
I'm currently running RPF1's on 225/45/17 and 255/40/17 Kumho MX's. I used to have Sumi htrz III's before but I swapped them out for the kumho's because they felt a little soft in the sidewalls when auto-x'ing. I recently went back to my stocks the other day and I noticed how much more "precise" the inputs were on the stocks, so much so that I think I'm going to try going back to my stocks for the next auto-x event. My question is whether or not for my next set of tires (for the enkei's) if I should go down to the stock tire sizes (likely on the dunlop sportstars) or stay with the "plus size." I haven't played too much with the tire pressures yet so I also have that as an option on the enkei's if i run them at the next event. Just wanted opinions on the tire sizing before i get impulsive and try something else.
oh and on another note... i tried the OEM 215/245 tires on the RPF1s before but i didn't like the overly stretched look on the fronts especially so I opted to go wider. but reading and comparing it seems the oem 215's are narrower than a lot of other 215s.
def go with the 225/255 . The dunlop star specs are a great tire i just got the same exact tires nounted on my Rpf1s and i love them . If you look at what size rim is tested with 225/255 its 8 front 9 rear . Smaller is going to stretch and have a smaller contact patch. hope im right good luck

anybody ever run a 225 or 235 (fronts) / 265 (rears) on these?
As for 235's you can find plenty of those but you will have to choose between 235-40 which is a little too short or 235-45 which is a little to tall. I might try 235-40 next time around it seems what most 235 tire guys run.
Basically, 225/45 and 255/40 is going to be the best setup realistically for most.

There are only a couple of tires that run 265 on a 17 inch wheel, the only decent performance tire being the michilian pilot sports. Believe me i looked long and hard for larger sizes but it doesnt really exist without 18's.

i daily drive my car and want something that can somewhat perform on the track also. not looking to win championships here either.
i have a set of RPF1s on my vehicle right now and at a 225/255 combo. lowered about an inch on H&R Coilovers (350F/R spring rate)
