Default 2400 lb S2ks

Recently I have seen 2 S2k race cars claiming weights in the range of 2400 lbs. 1 was for sale in Pennsylvania and the other is a car that Science of Speed is preparing. Both have full race cages and the dash ( or whats left of it) in place. No carbon fiber or any fancy materials are used, and 1 car had a stock hardtop. How hard is this to accomplish? The SOS car has a fuel cell in place of the regular tank--any of yall do this? Any one out there use a Kirkey or Ultashield seat --on a Taitec slider? I am asking because I am beginning to transform my car into a full race car. I have the top, the exhaust a cage builder and am now picking a seat. I want the slider-- so its on the way. I dont care for the recaro SPG or the Sparco Rev which are known to fit our car and this slider.

There are numerous 2400 lb range S2K race cars out here on the West coast. The ones that I know of that actually race w2w are owned by these board members:

rlaifatt
krazik
sphfinkterMC
slick rick
hondalegend

Scot had one out East, as did Effect although I don't know who owns that one now.

There are a few guys running or prepping cars for SCCA T2, but those cars are heavier.

Basically, you don't need fancy carbon anything to make that weight, it's all about "adding lightness" by removing non-essential items.

The Kirkey/Ultrashield aluminum seats are among the worse and most uncomfortable I've ever seen or used. You shouldn't use one with a slider as they require a brace from the back of the seat to the rollbar since those seats won't pass FIA crash testing (they fold under load). Why are you determined to use one of those?

I am not determined--I am just having a hard time finding one that is comfortable. If a recaro pole position will fit i will get one of those. the recaro SPG and the Sparco rev dont offer enough lumbar support for me.

I had a sparco evo rev seat. I am 5'11" and about 172lbs (plus suit, etc...)... my seat fit great for me.

in 2004 my car weighed 2603 with minimal gas with me in it....that was stock header, stock rear sway bar, stock battery and the airpump still in. I had no exhaust from the test pipe back though. and i have always had my goofy 10-12lb ebay wing on the back

In 2005 I used a mugen header, took the rear sway bar off.... but put a catback exhaust on...

If you took the airpump off and swaped to a 15lb battery the car should weigh under 2400lbs with a full exhaust.... nothing expensive other than the mugen header. Just remove all the stuff you can.

What's involved in the air pump removal process (after removing the front bumper)? I'm running no cat and EMS.

What does it weigh? ~10lbs?

The lower back and seat cushions of the SPG are removable (attached by velcro)and you can place foam padding below these. I did that for a while for long trips, cutting two pieces of 1/2" thick carpet padding that fit between the cushions and the shell. So you can adjust lumbar support this way.

the pump unit itself is only 3lb. But if you remove the harnesses, hoses, bracket associated with, then it's more like 7lb-8lb total. i weighted it when i removed mine.
