Default 4 bars of heat with just water? is that normal?

I am running my car on the track tomorrow (maybe) and they require just water.... with just water I am running 4 bars when normally i am at just 3.....

HELP!!!!!!

Is 4 too hot? It does not appear that my radiator fans are kicking in, which they used to.....

Sounds like you have an air bubble in the system... probably from refilling/changing to water. The fans aren't kicking on because coolant isn't reaching the fan switch. You need to locate the bleeder screw on the coolant system. I have done this, but I can't remember where the heck it is. If you have the manual, look it up there. Anyone else remember where it is?

Also, 4-bars is never normal... on the idiot guage 3 is normal, 4 is bad. They may as well have just put a warning light in there.

Yeah, I concur with the water bubble theory. The symptoms bear that out. I want to say the bleeder is on one of the lines going to the heater core but I don't remember for sure either. If you can't find it let me know and I'll look it up in the manual for you.

I just was under my car changing FSB settings. I believe the bleeder has a white wing-nut like plastic cap and sits just above the front sway bar (almost dead center).

I've never seen 4 bars.

Isn't water wetter legal on tracks that require water only?

the white screw at the bottom of the radiator isn't the blead screw. thats the drain screw.

The bleader is on the intake manifold between the throttle body and the valve cover. It looks like a large brake bleeder screw. Its 12mm if I remember right.

Its at a high point where the air collects. the drain screw isn't gonna see much air.

I'm pretty sure it is but what did that have to do with the rest of the discussion? Not trying to be a dick here, just trying to see if you have a specific question that you're looking for an answer to?
