Assumptions.

If the angles are correct and nothing yields the setup would be able to properly hold you in the seat and will provide the same level of safety as if the harness were attached to a full role bar.
Easy there cowboy. This will not provide the same level of safety as a harness attached to a rollbar. Forget about forces and force vectors for a minute; without a rollbar and a properly fitted seat, no aftermarket harness is safe.

I would disagree that you need a full rollbar for a harness to work properly. as long as the forces and force vectors line up. this is assuming you have the proper seat and mounting locations that are reinforced.

unless you were just pointing out my spelling error

but that is just my opinion some people will do what ever they want to regardless of what any one else says.

But You will not pass a tech inspection for any harness unless it is attached to a rollbar for an SCCA/NASA race event.

Yes, so when you're pinned to the seat in your open top car with a harness but no rollbar, wtf is going to keep the car off the ground in a rollover?

*hint: It rhymes with dead

In my original question I stated that I was short enough that I clear the factory rollover protection even with a helmet on. So in your example with me in the car, the answer is the factory rollover support, not my head.

I know it wouldn't pass tech inspection or meet SCCA guidelines, just curious about people's opinions on the idea of such a system before they dismiss it as JDM snake oil.

PS, thanks deppenma for the objective look, and maxrev for the translation (good to know that even ASM designed it for street use) I'd love to put in a full roll bar, but for a dual duty car (street / some track use) there are two things standing in my way:

a) Insurance having a problem with it
b) A viable, widely available, economical roll bar solution (if the Elda ever comes back that would be an option, but right now all I've heard is "soon").

Just seeing if there are any other options

Any comments on this one?

Lets suppose.. one has an aftermarket seat w/o roll bar. The person doesn't want to drill or install a roll bar as he or she doesn't want to kill the resale value (Relatively new car).

That's mad JDM yo. Especially with the Takata and Bride. Can you get anymore made in Taiwan? I mean manufactured in...but not assembled in

Rollbar is your friend, especially at the speed you put around the track at

Btw, you need the taro flavored airfreshener to go with it.

That is not the way that beam is intended to be loaded. If you have a big enough doubler plate on the other side of it, and if the bolts are strong enough, then you might get it to work.

Definitely not a solution I would buckle into if I could only see what I see in that picture.

TDM yo?

BTW roll bar holes aren't gonna kill resell value if you don't drill thru any of the plastic. Put a bar in, leave the pastic out. Put the plastic back after you remove the bar.

A harness w/o a bar is a bad idea in our car.
