Default 6 point harness mounting

I'm planning on buying a 6 pt harness for the passenger seat. I'm wondering if welding reinforcement plates is the only way to successfully mount a 6 point.

how can this be properly done?

I'm not sure if your talking about the anti-sub straps, but you should just be able to use the reinforcing plate, lock washer and the Eyebolt.

Schroth basically wrote the book on safety and installation...Follow their directions and you should be ok.

Yeah I didn't weld anything to put mine in. I just fashioned some backup plates and used locking nuts, washers, and the eyebolts.

Ok, Ive spent way too much time looking for a picture on here. I'm about to start drilling for my 6 point (Sparco) harness. I got it all figured out except I'm a bit wary about the inboard lap location on the tunnel and the sub strap locations for both driver and passenger. I understand from these forums there as some keepout zones due to fuel lines and rails. Does anyone have any pictures they can send me or post?

Thanks.

I'm about to do the same but i'll let you drill first

I suspect it's probably easiest to pull back the carpet (assuming you havn't ripped it out) and begin drilling a small hole from the underside of the car between the fuel lines so you don't hit them.

I believe i've seen a picture of a lap belt mounted to the tranny tunnel as well. I believe it was Skip who took it or posted it. Try searching for hard dog rollbar install.

Cheers

The inboard one is really not that hard. If you look from the underside of the car, in the tunnel, you can see where the plate (Stanard Schroth backing plate) would fit.

I don't have any pics, but from my understanding, its only really an issue if you are using 5pts. With 6pts the mounting locations are just outside the fuel lines and whatnot. Take your time, measure twice, drill once.

With a 6 pt, the outboard position will be right above the fuel lines on the driver's side. Careful, slow drilling will allow you to drive through the floor without going through the lines right below it.

A 5 pt really doesn't work, since the frame rail is right in the middle (where you would want to drill).
