949 Racing 6LU track setup help
Hey guys I'm planning on tracking my car a lot and I saw this set up on 949 racing's website and thought it would work out great. It's a square stance 17X9 +48 Front 17X9 +63 Rear with 255's all around. I am also gonna put the car on either eibach 1"race springs or H&R race springs. I was wondering if anyone is running a similar set up and what it took to get the set up to fit? I'm assuming I have to roll my fenders. Here is a link to the wheel

FWIW I would recommend going to 17x10 and doing the light fender rolling needed.
Rationale: 1:a 255 tire will be faster on a 10" wheel. Less tire deflection, better feel, more contact patch 2: You can rotate tires to get more life out of them. 3: If/when you get more into it, you will want 10" wheels eventually anyway. Why not start there and save money. 4: Less potential mistakes (tire shop monkeys putting the wrong offset on the wrong end, causing damage). OEM's prevent this with different hub diameters. IF you opt to stay with 9's order the 949 hub-centric rings and glue them in to prevent this I own 2 sets of 17x10 949 wheels and am quite happy. Its a great product by a great company. |
I'd stick to the same offset front and rear so you can rotate your tires (anorexicpoodle's #2). This will save you a lot of tire dollars.

I'd stay away from lowering springs.
But I'm still staggered so .... |
Thank you to everyone for the quick response. I had originally thought about putting on 10" wheels but I was worried that I would have to do a lot of camber adjustments to make them fit. But if I don't need to major camber and only need a light amount of fender rolling well I'm happy with that

Will you be driving the car to and from the track? Is this your daily as well? What tires do you plan on running? What is your experience level?

What if I want to run a staggered setup of
17X9(+48 or +55) & 17X10 +52 or 17X8 +48 & 17X9 +55? What kind of tire would I need to run. 235 F and 255R? What are some good sizes for staggered? The +55 is 949racing's s2000 suggested offset. |

First of all you will need to roll your fenders just to clear the tire, not to mention you wouldn't be able to rotate tires. I'd go 17x9 +55 square with 255/40/17 for simplicity and then get a good track alignment |
