Default advice for driver new to the track

Hi. I'm planning on taking my 2001 to a couple of track days and I'd like to get advice on what sort of modifications would be useful or sensible, it's a daily driver too.

Thanks

This has been covered a zillion times. Take a look through this forum.

The short answer is, "clean out the storage compartments, have the car carefully inspected, and -- this is optional -- pull the spare tire and jack out of the trunk (either at the track or at home)."

No mods are required for your first track day. Make sure tires and brakes are in good shape. It is best if they are neither brand new nor more than half used up.

And show up with a full tank of gas.

Thoroughly flush/bleed the brakes and consider replacing your pads with "+" or race pads if you're hard on your brakes.

AFTER tracking your car you'll figure out what the weakest link is. Most likely it's the nut behind the wheel.

Mods before the track day - whatever said above + check and record your tire pressures for future reference.

Advise for the track day? -Keep the shiny side up...

take it slow, get a feel of the car and track before you step it up.

Look before you leap. A stitch in time saves nine. A penny saved is a penny earned.
