Shortening the tie rod (moving the end in) will create toe-in if the rod connects in front of the ball joints, toe-out if it connects behind. I thought that the rod connects in front, but rlaifatt claimed that "only 2 people have the right answer so far" (which at the time indicated answer #6). So I wondered if I hadn't really gotten a good look at the suspension when I had the shocks out on Saturday.
The car won't pull to the side due to toe, in either case.
