So I tore the ELDA bar out and gutted the interior. Sorry but my ELDA is spoken for so I can't entertain offers but at this point I think I could get big money for it. The ELDA is a very good bar and I hope it can be back on the market again in the near future. I know there are plenty of track enthusiasts out there that have the cash to buy one and are willing to spend it.
and the doors leaving just the latch mech for the drivers side.
I towed this car 400 miles and left it at the shop for 3 weeks then went back out to get it. It would have been easier to find someone local and maybe someone that would do it in less time but I am VERY happy with the results and recommend this shop to anyone for any kind of bar. In the end the effort equals the result.
We'll start with the drivers side.
Pic is shaky but window net installed by roll cage manufacturer. Looks nicer than something added on after cage is built.
A pillars. Bars are welded in 3 places; top, middle, and at the base. Gussett bars and bar at top of windshield is a continuous bend and welded to frame.
A pillar attachment at base. Nice end plate detail.
Right above where the two Nascar door bars come into the down bar there are 3 more bars (each side) connected to the chassis.
1 pair goes to where the stock frame rail runs on the other side of the firewall.
1 pair connects to the factory dash bar. I do not have any pics because they are blocked by the dash.
1 pair go through the firewall and attach to the front shock tower. They just squeeze through between battery and frame and clutch cylinder and frame. I have to remount 2 electrical boxes.
Again, I highly recommend this guy to do ANY roll bar that you would want. I was referred to him by jlucas who had a welded in cage done for SCCA T2 which requires you to race with a full interior. I have seen pics of his cage and it looks just as nice, so Mark can fit bars and cages working around a street cars interior.
There are more pics of my car at rollcageguy.com and Mark's contact info.
Thanks for looking. Hopefully I will see some of you at MidA NASA events and you can check it out in person.
now that i see all of the pics....that is a lot of cage! It does look very nice. I would have to think you paid a good bit more than the $900.00 that I paid.
the bars going towards the back of the car from right behind the seat....(no idea what they are called).... yours are very steep compared to what mine were.? any benefit to one or the other? i would think the more slope, the stronger it would be?
Recaro seat of course, I think it is SPG but I'm not sure. I'm sure it is the same one that is used for the Porsche Cup. I bought it through Northstar Motorsports and he hooked me up with the seat attachment and sliders. A car with an interior might have an interferance problem because of the "wings" on the seat.
The car needs to weigh 2730 pounds with me in it at the end of the race. I think it will be right there depending on how much fuel is left in the tank.
