Default Any new info on a hitch for the 04-05?

I've searched the site but nothing talking about the +04. Also, the problem of the hitch pulling thru the trunk floor. Is this an isolated problem caused by overloading the trailer or it's weight displacement?

Any help is appreciated.

Since Hammerly's hitch is having a, well, hitch, it seems like you're left with the Gendron and the Da'Lan. Both use the trunk bottom. I've had no problems with the Gendron one but I also added a piece of stainless on the inside of the trunk to ensure that the front part of the hitch doesn't pull through.

I think that you're limited to these or you won't ever have one. Might as well get over the pain and just do it with the trunk mod for good measure.

Again, I put this out there...

Is anyone with a Hammerly hitch willing to take detailed pictures of the hitch and where it connects to the car so those that want them car have a shop fabricate them?

I don't want to make money off Harold's design, I just want to make this hitch for myself!

Keith, I agree with you. If there is a design out there we all can benefit from, even though we have to make it ourself, this would be of great help.

Keith, my father is a structural engineer and he designed his own davits to lift his 21' boat out of the water. I was thinking of coming up with a design based on hitches that are mounted to flanges at each end of the receiver bar and give it to my dad to size out the thickness of the steel and welds.

Like Keith said, some pictures would give me a good starting place.

Thanks.

There were some pictures posted (decent ones) in another thread. Search for Hammerly hitch. Ask your father if they are good enough. If we can figure it out I know one other person aside from you and I who would like one down here Allan.

Here are the only pictures I have. See if that's enough to work with!

I would definitely be interested in one of these myself. I have been looking for a hitch to haul my bikes around. I really don't like using a trunk carrier as it can easily screw up the paint if dust or dirt gets under the rubber pads.

Please PM me if you get something going. I would even chip in for some developmental costs as well.
