Default AP1 S2000 Lemons Car?

Alright, so after a few 24hr of Lemons races up here at New Hampshire Motor Speedway running a 1993 VW Fox w/ Team FarfromWinnin, the fun I have been having is getting me hooked and I was just rolling around the possibility of building an AP1 s2000 Lemons car. Really I am just looking for a sanity check - is it even REMOTELY possible that I could find a totally beat to hell POS Salvage AP1 s2000 that we could strip, throw a cage in and have fun with on the track in a Lemons race? Obviously this would be a Class A car and getting through B.S. Tech Inspection would be hilarious with lots of bribing, but do you think it's viable under Lemons rules, and do you know anyone that has done it before?

Would be a TON of fun, that's for sure.

Let me know your thoughts.

Nick

Edited: No intentions of trying to build a cheater car or trying to "Win" a lemons race. Just a basket case AP1 with a plethora of aesthetic hilarity, and mad VTEC up in the house for a delightful fun factor.

Never seen anyone do it before, but I've pondered the idea as well.

Seems to me that the biggest issue would be the cost. I've never participated, so I have no idea how much leeway there is or hard they come down on people who break the price restrictions... But it seems to me that an S2000 (even a wrecked one) would still be too expensive to be viable. Maybe I'm wrong though.

the real question would be...why?

You might be missing the real intention of Lemons and ChumpCar races... to race pieces of crap cars. Cars, by all logic and reasoning, shouldn't be on a race track... yet, there they are.

Winning in budget racing series isn't the real point of racing in budget racing series

I'll tell you why, because I can't afford to race (wheel to wheel) in anything but a budget racing series. Also, I never said anything about trying to win in a budget racing series, or even win in an s2000, it's all about the fun factor, the seat time, the whole experience. My intention of running an s2000 would not be to try and win or have a cheater car, it would just be purely to get an s2000 on track (a car that is a blast to drive) and bomb around, have fun pushing and passing and get a ton of seat time in a wheel to wheel environment. Obviously I don't care about penalty laps. I am just wondering, is there any reason why someone could not race it in a Lemons race, per the Lemons rules or something I am overlooking? I am not missing the real intention of these series, nor do I need your condescending statements reitterating to me the obvious point of running in a budget racing series.

And although the Lemons/Chump series is couched on the premise of racing crap cans, there are many 3-series BMW's, Miatas, Mustangs and other cars that are out there flying around. I know for a FACT that there were 3 or 4 cars at this previous Lemons race that would absolutely destroy a stock, POS AP1 s2000 in terms of lap time.

Roger that. Maybe I will call around to some junk yards and see how much you could pick one up for....
