Default AST 4150

I was on the waiting list at Vorshlag in Dallas to get one of the elusive sets of AST 4150s.

Turns out I got them from a member on the forum.

So there is a set available if anyone has been looking and can't find them.

Call Vorshlag

I plan on installing mine this weekend, hope one of us gets the other set so we can compare notes.

The 4150s are rebound adjustable only.

I just finished getting mine installed with OEM tophats about a week ago, and am finishing getting the hide heights set this week, and getting it aligned Saturday. I had to trim the bumpstops down to gain some bump clearance, but I've gone balls out over a few speedbumps, and I think I picked up enough bump travel that it won't be an issue. I also talked with the guys at AST a few times about it as we worked over a few issues with the OEM tophats.
First autocross event is Sunday.

My current setup:
255 RS-3 on 9" Wheel
Shocks: AST 4150
Springs: 650F/550R (If I think I went to soft I'm going to go 700F/650R)
Saner Sway Bar - Middle setting
Rear Miata bar
Ride height - 4x4 mode for bump travel. Tons of droop on the 4150 compared to my clubsports.

First, I'm not the most experienced racer here

Second, my car is being set up,for NASA TTC, so if you're doing something different, your mileage may vary...

I'm running 255 square RE-11, but ultimately plan A6's at 225 square
Using enkei PF-01's, +60, so the car is pretty low
Stock sways front and rear
Currently Voltex type 7 rear wing
Splitter being installed
700/650 springs

Previously, I had Challenge comp +, coilovers, with about the same spring setup

I'm running the AST's at 2-3 clicks off the stiffest setting. I can tell you that there is really a noticeable difference when you change the settings. I was easily able to dial out some oversteer, and also able to get balance in the car with only the big rear wing and no front aero. So far, it's noticeable that when you're close to the right balance, one click can make a difference.

The ride vs the comp + coils is also different. It seems like the AST's are a little more planted, absorb a little more. But again, I'm not an expert by any means. And for the record, I liked the comp +.

Overall I'm very happy, I think they have more in them than I'm using right now, so I think they'll be great as I add the splitter, A6's, and get better at extracting the last but out of the car

Thanks to you both for the helpful advice on initial set up.

AS I mentioned if you know anyone who is interested Vorshlag has a set. They are just so tough to get a hold of I want to make sure it goes to a good home.

How low would you say you are? Any pictures of the car with the suspension installed? Any issues with bump travel at the track?

So far no issues with bump stops, though I'm monitoring that

A picture is worth a thousand words, regarding how low. Unfortunately, I don't have one right now. Will get one soon (might be 2 weeks) and post. Best I can describe is not "tucked" but respectably low

Sorry
