AStreet/BStreet: last chance to save your S2000s!
To all those who compete in AStreet/BStreet, the SAC (Stock Advisory Committee) will be making any last minute changes to the Street classing, before it becomes final next month. Since Street is considered a "new class", the SAC has a 12 month window to reclass cars aa they see fit. That window ejds this month. They start discussions in a few days.
As most of you have seen, the Corvettes have shown how dominant they will be. In AS a C6 Z06 was faster than the fastest S2000CR by a second, and would have been 1.3 seconds If the winner hadnt coned his first run. In BS the base Corvette took the win by .8 seconds.
Its obvious that classing all the corvettes down a class was a mistake on the SACs part. The Corvettes work just fine on street tires. If you guys wanna save AS/BS from Corvette domination, I highly suggest you write a letter to the SAC immediately to move all the corvettes back to their original classes.

And this is what we have been saying all along. The CR's advantage over the regular S2000 goes away when you go to street tires. The better proposition is to move the regular Vette to AS with the other Z06s and move the CR to BS.

I have been running BS regionally for the last two years in an 07 S. Typical prep. This year I have been going head to head with a vette. (driver placed 9th at nationals sharing Borgs vette) I consider us to be close in talent as drivers. Our times have been within .1 seconds on all our in region match ups. Out of region with a drag strip starts I get it handed to me. I do believe the cars are very competitive if you take away the 0-60 acceleration zones. As PedalFaster pointed out in another thread, BS was dominated by Borg whenever he was there. I understand he is an incredible driver and IMO would most likely finish first if he brought an S2000 to the fight. It may not be good to compare vette vs. S based on this years Nats.
I don't believe I wan't to run against a CR in BS however. The CR spring rates would be a definate advantage.
I say, leave it as is for 2015

I vote all ap2s to AS, all Vettes to SS, all ap1s to CS, get rid of the GT3s Elise and other rare/expensive cars in Street. After all, we were sold on the idea that "Street" was the basic and affordable class to promote participation. It's clear some classing agendas exist and an overwhelming voice will combat it. I would even go further and vote out all "trunk kit" cars from "Street"

EDIT: CRs and Elises are also priced similarly.

It really does seem like the regular vette in AS, and the Z06 in SS, makes a lot of sense.
Then leave the CR in AS, where it should be pretty competitive but not an overdog. Putting a CR together with a base S2000 means the base S2000s will be gone. The CR is significantly better. There aren't that many of those. There are lots of base s2000s. Why would someone in a CR not want to move to STR, they already have a car that's only marginally streetable?
I'll write a letter putting together some stuff on the vettes but I think the S2ks should stay where they are. Unless you leave the vettes and move the base s2000 to CS and the CR to BS, that would be another option.
