Default Autocross video

I finally got my in-car footage to mesh with my Race Technology DL1 after WAY too much work. Here's an in-car video from this past weekend's race. Not my finest driving but the data is neat to look at.
(looks better in 480P resolution)
This sloppy run got me FTD and 2nd in PAX.

Car: 2001 Honda S2000, Penske 8300 shocks, Ankeny 1.5" bar (set full stiff), 225/50R16 Dunlop Z1 Star Spec tires, captain_pants cut-off exhaust, Race Tech DL1 logger.
Camera: Fast Toys bullet cam feeding into an Aiptek camera, held on with a Modifry mount.

What tire pressures were you running on your Starspecs?

I haven't optimized pressures yet but I'm definitley noticing faster times with higher pressures. Last event I was at 43 psi hot all around. That's 225/50R16s on the stock staggered wheels. I start with that and bleed down after the first couple of runs. Bleeding down to 41 psi increases lap times.

The 'paved and sealed' surface we run on is unlike any other I've seen though, so this may not be directly comparable. The grip difference between Rs and streets is greatly reduced on this surface.

They also liked 40+ psi on a more typical paved lot though.

That's cool! It looks like that can be a useful tool. That cut-off exhaust really seems loud. I picked a stock AP2 system a while back and I'm tempted to do something like that with it... maybe add another resonator though.
Enjoyed the video and nice driving

Thanks Corey.

I ran my first even on the same sized tires and I started up in the 40's but someone suggested going down so I went down to 35 F and 33 R hot. But I didn't have a pyrometer so I didn't get a chance to get tire temps.

I'll give your pressures a try next time out.

I ran my MaxQ at that event and on ashphalt, I was able to maintain close to 1 G in the sweepers. Gotta check my numbers and see what type of G's I was pulling in similar sweepers on fresh A6's.

The cut-off exhaust is loud, almost as loud as a first-gen Invidia exhaust. If I only drove in VTEC I'd leave it on all the time because it sounds awesome. It sucks below 4k rpm with lots of drone. But it's light, dirt cheap, and stupidly easy to switch back to stock after every race weekend.

Same setup, but from this weekend's autocross:
I made some big mistakes out there (exiting the Chicago box at ~2/3rds of the way around - WTF?) but still tied for 3rd FTD.

Springs and some other STR goodies should go in this weekend!

Corey - check out www.racerender.com

That might make your life easier for data/video overlay (I haven't watched the video's - blocked at work so I really don't know what you are currently using to get the stuff overlapped)

I'm using the Race Technology Analysis software that comes with the DL1. It's pretty good for something like this, although I spent the extra time to create the gauges from scratch instead of using one of their off-the-shelf ones. The pain is manually lining up the timing of the data and the video - which you'll have to do with any software.

I could get the camera higher with some custom spacers under the Modifry mount but don't see much point. My focus is on the driver with just enough info to tell where you are on course. Anything better than that is just cake.
