Autocrossing the S
I read the autocross FAQ article, which is probably the best article I have read thus far
. The article didn't discuss performance modifications such as:
1. Front strut tower bar
2. Rear strut tower bar
3. Front x-brace
4. Rear lower tie bar
5. Floor bar / chassis reinforcement
Did the article intentionally ignore these modifications because its focus was on modifications that still allow the S to participate in A-Stock, or because these modifications offer little benefit?
Any and all feedback is greatly appreciated.

What makes you think any of these are "performance modifications"?

The S2000 doesn't need them. Yeah, if you're driving an accord or civic, they probably make a little difference.

Ok...shocks. I am not trying to be a jerk or argue with you, but most of the cars that autocross in my local area have strut and tie bars.
A better way would be to go w/ a stiffer front sway bar (Comptech, Grindon(sp?), Saner, Small Fortune Racing, etc.) along w/ R-compound or A-compound tires (i.e. Hoosier R3S04 or A3S05, Khumo V710, etc.) which you'll need to mount on a second set of stock wheels (or at least stock size). To stay in stock, you can use any wheel you want as long as it's the same diameter, same width and no more than plus or minus 1/4" difference in offset over stock.
Another upgrade that's legal for stock is shocks. Koni Yellows are a popular choice. They're one way adjustable (rebound only) and around $650 for a set. Penske and the like are even better and double adjustable to boot. But they're waaayyy more expensive ($1,000 PER CORNER!!!)
Something else you'll need to improve is the loose nut behind the wheel. This maybe the least expensive and show the biggest improvement. I'm taking the DC Region's Level 3 school nest weekend. You can also attend an Evolution school. Your SCCA Region will also have schools in your area from time to time.
That's all I got, back to you...
Warren
