Definitely fuel starvation. For autocross, you need at least 2 bars over half, or you'll experience exactly what you saw.

Probably not the same thing, but after purchasing a used s2k, I experienced alot of power loss only in tight turns (like the one you show).

It ended up being it was 2.5 quarts of oil low!! added 1 quart at the track and it woke up. added another 1.5 quarts and it really woke up.

Supposively, in a turn, the oil will slush over to one side making the car think it it really low on oil. But when you straighten out, it goes away.

Just something to check.

How long did you run it on the track like this? And you ran it some more after only adding a quart? Have you checked compression & leakdown since?

Sorry to hijack the thread but i'm glad you had enough OIL. In response to CRDMS1's question... (keep in mind I couldn't tell that I was low at all till after the event because it was TOO under the oil stick).

I had a codriver, so I ran it for 6- 35 second runs with 2.5 quarts low. It accelerated about like a miata with a good launch and vtech was pretty weak. vtech was VERY weak in transitions.

then, I checked oil and was unsure if it was low or high because of where oil line was (which was sloshed all around). Several other autox's thought it was full, but i really wasn't positive. For safety at lunch, I went to get a quart of oil (to be on the safe side). So, then I added 1 quart to see, and it had a small drop at end of dipstick, but I still thought maybe the line was above high. A few people thought it was overfilled now and I couldn't really get a good reading.

(So now, it was 1.5 quarts low but again, I didn't know this).. Then, I ran 2 runs. then it rained on us and the event was canceled. Here the car accelerated MUCH better going straight, and still not so good in transitions. But I acqured the car a day before, understanding the vtech in transitions was difficult because I couldn't compare it to anything.

Then, I drove home and thought about it. The car OBVIOUSLY was low on oil on first runs, but after adding the oil, the dipstick readings didn't change really at all. "Maybe it was WAY too low before and still kinda low now". I had to change the oil anyway because I just got the car a day before, so I went to get the oil changed and they said it was 1.5 quarts low!!!!

As you asked also, "Have you checked compression & leakdown since?" .. No I haven't (and don't know what it is) but I'll have it done to be safe.

Thanks and glad J's AP1 had OIL
