Thumbs up autoXer! Need some Help

I plan to run my s2k in AStock, or rear wheel drive street tire full time next season, but i plan on putting a roll bar in this winter for track events.

Can anyone tell my if the SCCA uses a roll bar as a mod that i couldn't run in AStock? I don't have my scca book yet, and i have run about 5 events with the s2k, but i plan on being competitive next season so i just want to check around see what people know.

thanks for the help guys

SCCA.com

Rules are here.
http://www.scca.com/documents/Solo%20Rules...olo_Rules_2.pdf

For stock class:
H. Roll bars and roll cages may be added (See Appendix C). It is
strongly recommended that roll cages be constructed according
to the GCR, though they must be bolted (not welded) into the
automobile and be contained within the driver/passenger
compartment. Roll bars may be welded in. A roll cage has
more than four attachment points to the body or frame, or has
bracing both fore and aft of the main hoop.

Yes, you can put in a roll bar, but it has to meet the SCCA safety guidelines -- either Appendix C of the Solo rules, or the requirements of the Club Racing GCR (general competition rules).

If it doesn't meet the safety requirements, then it isn't considered a roll bar -- it's a chassis brace. And those aren't allowed in stock.

Why a roll bar? You have hoops, and in stock you can't weld them in-negating any benefit I can see.

A roll bar would be taller than the factory hoops, for one thing.

The factory roll hoops don't qualify as adequate rollover protection in some track organizations.

that would be the reason. the factory hoops a basically for look only, not allowed on any track day.

Do clubs allow you to run with the factory hardtop or you still need roll bars to do HPDE?

i dont think so because most hard tops haven't been tested for rollovers. If you have a hard top you still need a roll bar, thats my understanding.

Wrong
