Default Azenis RT-615

When my current tires wear out I was thinking of upgrading to Azenis. My question is currently I am running 225/45R17 and 255/40R17 front and rear respectively. I read in the FAQ that most A or R compound sizes are 245/45 and 275/40. Would these widths be ok for someone that also uses the S for DD or should I stick to the sizes I have now? BTW I am saving up for an extra set of wheels hopefully for next season and run R or A compounds.

i did rub with the 275/40 in the back.

if you go with the larger sizes it will most likely rub depending on your wheels.

azenis are fairly wide on their contact patch.

I am on stock tires and stock suspension. The local speed shop has a fender roller, so I might just get them to roller the inner lip on the rear and go for it.

Azenis run very wide but they are pretty good all around tires. I have a set on the Miata and they have lasted about 12,000 miles with about 30% left. Might also want to check out the new Dunlop Direzza Z1.

i think i would try the hankooks next.

the azenis do not provide much feedback in terms of noise when they are about to give.

If you're saving, and want some decent grip, Azenis should do. I'm sort of disappointed by mines though. Tire wear seems super fast, as my rears are about half done with only 5K miles, then again, these are Azenis. RS2 is probably more practical IMO. On my lighter Miata, they had a bad time getting heat in them at autocross events, and this was on hot 100*+ grippy concrete surface. Ideally, they should work wonders on a heavier car, and on a track, could be wrong.............

a great dry tire for autox and dd, esp when it gets hot/sticky (will wear quicker than others tho). also not the greatest in the rain at all =\

Thanks guys. I've got a few miles left on my tires so I was just researching some. I'm fairly competitive within my local auto-x group. I hope by the time I save up for wheels/tires that I will have enough seat time to take advantage!

Interestingly the Dunlop Direzza doesn't give a tire width on their spec sheets. Which usually means they are narrow for their rated width. It's a shame as the price is good.
