Default Baffled Oil pan suggestions.

So I think it is time for me to add some sort of oil starvation prevention to my Honda S2000. It is only an HPDE car (no racing). I did a bunch of searching and hard to sift through all the noise. What do you like best and why ?

1) Blacktrax - Baffled oil pan $399. Seems to use OEM pan w a plate. https://www.s2ki.com/s2000/topic/109...il-pan-baffle/

2) Moroso - Oil Pan Baffle kit (to weld into your OEM pan) $120ish Has a trap door. https://www.s2ki.com/s2000/topic/106...nyone-used-it/

3) Ballade Sports. Bolt in baffles to your OEM pan. https://www.s2ki.com/s2000/topic/114...il-pan-baffle/

4) Canton - Bigger baffled pan. https://www.s2ki.com/s2000/topic/108...thoughts-here/

I'm running the Moroso weld in. Blacktrax is good, but just a slosh plate. Canton was hell on oil temps.

Plus I know a guy that can weld, so Moroso was also the cheapest

Just happened to run across these similar topics and thought I'd share.

Well metal expands, imo that welder didnt account for expansion / cooling hence it cracked. The metal didnt want to be stressed. My moroso has been installed for 2 years now, no issues.

You dropped it to confirm?

Just curious. It also looks like even if the Moroso welds would crack, it can't really go anywhere anyway.

Canton here with a big oil cooler setup. Only thing I didn't like was the plate to cover the flywheel didn't fit right, I don't drive the car on the street so it wasn't a major concern though.

I had an alloycraft weld in baffle. Had it installed for 4+ years. When I was selling the car, I traded pans with a friend, so I had a chance to inspect the baffle.

One area, the weld broke, because it was welded a little high and was just touching the rotating assembly. Rewelded and it's been doing well.

Before I sold the car, I did a compression and leak down, numbers were all great. Which I attribute to the baffled pan and oil cooler.

Info on the Blacktrax here:

There's info out there on datalogged oil pressure. I've never had my oil pressure warning go off with the Blacktrax pan installed.

Just welded the Moroso Baffle into my stock pan. Pressure washed the pan with simple green, and that was enough to keep the welds from contaminating too much. Happy with the product, made a couple small adjustments(hammer) to get the high side to sit a little lower and welded in a 1/8 npt fitting for oil temp while it was apart.

I'm running the Moroso Plate Setup, currently.

I have experience with the following baffled pans as well:
-Spoon
-Mugen

IMHO, if you are going to go with a anti slosh plate tray, go with a Spoon or a Mugen - they have the experience and the expertise to have a properly built pan.

Now if you want an upgrade from the anti slosh plate design, go with the Moroso weld in.

Ideally, you will want to use a factory fresh plate. However, if you have access to a chemical cleaning tank then that would sufficiently decontaminate a used oil pan for welding.
