Default Brake ducts in STR?

Last time I took my S2000 out to the local track (High Plains Raceway), I managed to completely cook my brakes. I figure ducts (like the WASP composites setup) is probably the next step.
Trouble is, I autocross with the car as well, and plan to build it over the winter for STR (and track days).

Seems there are conflicting things in the Solo rules though as far as ducting:
14.6.C
Air ducts may be fitted to the brakes provided that they extend in a forward direction only and that no changes are made in the body/ structure for their use. They may serve no other purpose.

But:
14.2.E. Fenders may not be cut or flared but the inside lip may be rolled to gain additional tire clearance. (The outer fender contour may not be changed.) Plastic and rubber wheel well splash shields may be mod- ified for tire clearance and to accommodate a rolled inside fender lip. The modifications may serve no other purpose (e.g., air intake, brake ducts, etc). No other changes to the stock fenders or wheel wells are permitted.

The duct kit requires drilling a 2.5" hole into the wheel well, so these seem contradictory.... Is there a way around it? Some form of passive vents that don't have the full hose spread?

Can you just tape over them for autocross?

For a national event, no.

Your can have the ducts attached to the hub but you are not allowed to modify the under tray or the front bumper in any way, shape, or form.

What pads and fluid where you using at the track day?

So then for a national event, I guess I'd have to pull the duct hose, swap back in the stock vent covers, and then theoretically put in new wheel well plastics without 2.5" holes drilled through them? I imagine that duct taping the holes could also maybe be possible, unless someone wanted to accuse me of <1g weight savings.

Correct. Someone at nationals may have a stick up their ass and want to go up one place in the final results so they will complain. People do the stupidest shit sometimes.

What are these stock vent covers? I am in STR and I've had the WASP ducts on my car for the last one or two local SCCA autocrosses. For local events I just tape over the holes in the front bumper and nobody complains. With the tape they are no longer functional and leaving them in place, I have added at least as much weight as I've removed, so there is arguably no advantage. I'm planning on going to nationals next year, but I doubt I'll be competitive, so I'm on the fence whether I'll replace the bumper cover and wheel liners for nationals. If I do well at nationals next year, the year after I will certainly swap the bumper cover and liners for 2015 nationals.

Sorry, not vents, I guess. The fog light panels/plastic/not-functional-vents that you remove for the WASP ducts -- is what I mean. I think I'll tape up my ducts regionally (and make sure my competitors don't put up a fight), and at least remove the bumper-side ducts nationally and.

Just an FYI, those are part of the bumper, you need to cut them out. I was able to save the pieces that I cut out, but I have yet to try to tape them back over the ducts.
