brake dust boot torn, rebuild or leave it? pic inside
ive finally gotten faster and i guess the brakes generated so much heat that it melted the boots. ive just installed some brake ducting so i am hoping it will help.
how many still run it as is?
should i just rebuild it?

I rebuilt my brake calipers once because I suspected a sticking sliding pin, and the dust boot was burnt off as well, so I figured I'd just rebuild all of it. I tried to get the new dust boot on for about 20 minutes, said "screw it" and put it together and threw it back on the car. That was about a year ago and I haven't had an issue.
I need to do mine again so I'll do a DIY.
Rebuild without boot:
One think to keep in mind if you don't use the boot is to at least use the seal like looking piece of the boot that goes into the caliper (just cut it off the boot).

I was able to rebuild the caliper without any compressed air, but it was a sincere PITA. Worse, the dust boots tore after a few track days, and never bothered to rebuild them. Never had any issues. I do bleed the brake fluid before every track day, though.

Forget about it!
