Default Brake help

Taking my stock MY07 to Bluegrass track on May 29th. I am looking for and advise on brakes. Stock ok? Just change out OEM fluid? Pads? etc.
Of course I am looking for what I "need".
Thanks

^stock are very good, just do a good bleed and make sure you have sufficient pad remaining.

My friend took his stock 2007 to Buttonwillow last weekend, and his brakes held up just fine in 74F heat. It was his first time out on the track, so he wasn't very hard on the brakes. He also did a brake fluid flush with OEM brake fluid a few days prior in preparation for the event.

My stock pads lasted me one event.

I wouldn't track on them, but that's just me. I know several others as well who have gone through stock pads in a couple of hours.

Some people say DOT4 fluid.

Fresh fluid a must, DOT4 (off-the-shelf Valvoline is fine).

Stock pads aren't ideal for the track. You can get by with them *if* they are nearly new. If the pad material isn't visibly thicker than the backing plate, get new ones or, better, get track-appropriate pads.

I've run Hawk HP+'s which did fine, maybe one of the better solutions for semi-reasonable $$$.
Do NOT run Hawk HPS's, though! Had a TERRIBLE experience with those (worse than stock).

Carbotech XP8's are very good track day pads that are relatively streetable.
XP10's even better track pads, less streetable.

I know Autocross is very different from what your doing but i use my stock brake pads on autox and they are just fine! Try them out with DOT4 fluid.

Exactly. AutoX doesn't put anything like the heat into brakes that a track day will. For AutoX, DOT3 should be fine, and is (generally) less hygroscopic (doesn't absorb moisture as readily) so doesn't have to be changed as often.

For fluid I'd recommend either the ATE or the RBF600 from motul. You need exactly two bottles to do a full flush with the motul.
