Default brake/turn

Will the anti lock brakes operate on the autocross course when I want to gas and brake at the same time?

The ABS will still work but I can't really imagine a scenario you'd want to do that other than some left foot braking scenarios. I still can't imagine when you'd want to be hard enough on the brakes to trigger ABS while being on throttle. I don't LFB but my understanding was that it is used with very light touches typically to get the front end to plant just a bit better.

I do left foot brake. I pin it pretty hard with the brakes when I want to turn. I remember activating the abs at some point on the course. I don't want that. Can I turn off the abs when autocrosssing?

Apparently you are better at searching than I am.

Thanks for the link.

I'd trust but verify that. ABS system changed completely for the 06+ cars. 06+ cars have electronic brake force distribution as well. Disabling ABS may disable that and cause a mess. IIRC, the car is inherently rear biased and will start braking in the rear if the EBD is cut out and will cause bad behavior. I'd suggest checking that or you can just try it. Just understand that if the behavior is absolutely terrible, it may not be purely your fault for pedal modulation.

'06 and later have Vehicle Stability Assist and Traction Control which utilize the ABS hardware and sensors so disconnecting the electrical power to the ABS may have some interesting consequences. Curious what they are but I'm not trying it!

I have to try pretty hard to activate ABS when auto crossing and I'm running PMU CRs right now which are kind of overkill. The only time I ever lock up is at the first event of the season which is usually in 40* weather for me. After that I rarely ever activate the ABS. The name of the game for the S2000 is brake as little as possible in autocross. If you have any of the pointy end super 200s the car will surprise you with how much grip you have and how little you actually need to brake. The hard part is learning the car and edging to the limit. Eventually it'll click for you and you'll get more comfortable with the speed.

Formula 1 racing permits neither ABS nor traction control for the specific reason to make the cars more difficult to drive emphasizing driver skill vs. technology. I'll take any advantage technology provides.

Thanks for the answers. I'll just have to experiment I guess.
